Which Moves Qualify?

Before you can start to add up the amounts you spent on your move, you have to determine whether your move met the IRS's requirements for a deductible move.

There are three parts to the test that you must meet:

1. Was the move closely related to the start of work?
2. Did the move meet the distance test?
3. Did your work in the new location meet the time test?
4. Do you need to follow any special rules for the military, retirees, and widowed persons?
